Tools To Properly Condition Your Football

Football can’t be played without the ball, so why not take care of it? Breaking in your

football is essential to enhance the grip, throwing distance, accuracy and lifespan.

Keeping up with the care of your American-made football can be tricky, but with the right tools and care techniques, your football will last longer. Check out Big Game Football Factory’s one-stop shop for all your football care needs.

Red River Football Mud:

The application of mud to a football is a great way to initially condition a football. It keeps shiny,

slippery footballs out of the game and helps to maximize tack, grip, and the life of your game

footballs. Get your footballs ready for action quickly and easily with Red River Football Mud.

Here is how it’s done:

  1. 1. Use a towel or receiver gloves to apply the mud everywhere on the football and massage the leather for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Let your mud set for about 1 hour. Wipe off excessive mud with a clean towel or rag.
  3. Brush the ball to your liking with a stiff hand brush or power ball brush to remove the grit.

MOJO Leather Conditioner:

Keep your footballs looking their best with Mojo Leather Conditioner. Leather conditioner keeps

the ball from drying out while enhancing a football’s grip and staying power. Just dab each panel

with your conditioner and brush it in to maintain its quality. The frequency of ball conditioning will

depend on the weather conditions in your area. For example, if you are in a more arid climate like the desert, you may have to condition every week.

Football Hand Brush:

Preparing new footballs can be a time-consuming task, especially when using brushes that wear

out quickly or scratches the ball more than buffing it. That’s where Big Game’s Football Hand

Brush comes in – it’s made with durable tampico bristles and porous fibers from the agave plant

in Tampico, Mexico. This brush is resistant to heat and chemicals and is specifically designed to

prevent static buildup.

You can use this brush when using any of the products such as Red River Football Mud, MOJO

Leather Conditioner, or the Big Game Ball Wax.

If you want to reduce your brushing time, or condition a large number of balls, check out our Big

Game Power Brush.

Big Game Ball Wax:

Waxing a football creates a better tack on the ball and makes it easier to catch and throw. The

Big Game Ball Wax is designed to complement both the Football Power Brush and our hand-held football brushes. Elite football programs all over America use this proprietary formula

for a high-tack finish.

Apply the wax bar to the football directly to each panel of the ball. You will then go back over

each panel with your brush to thoroughly brush in the wax.
